NANJING, China, May 28, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Predictably, the "Experimental Space" art exhibit in Nanjing, China, raised a fuss with its photographic depictions of human genitals and sex.
The work of a pony-tailed 22-year-old Chengdu Art Academy sophomore, Wang Guiquan, featured close-ups of the female reproductive organs from different angles and as expected stole the show as the most bold and avant-garde.
The artist smiled and explained her shocking work, saying, "Actually, it's very simple. At first, I only wanted to see what I really look like in the mirror."
The hard-core snapshots are mirror reflections of the artist's body, and have provoked harsh criticism from some viewers, the China Daily said, like the 20-something who said, "The brazen exhibits just make me blush and feel sick."
