SOUTH OGDEN — A fugitive was arrested after trying to flee from police and getting into a scuffle with officers, police say.

Officers stopped a vehicle at 3200 Adams Ave. around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to South Ogden Police Sgt. David Labbe. He said one of the officers recognized a passenger as outstanding fugitive Scott Sanders, 30.

Sanders had several warrants for his arrest. "Those range from resisting, to traffic to weapons offenses and drug offenses," Labbe said.

Officers believed Sanders to be armed and dangerous, and say he refused to get out of the car. Police tried using a Taser on him but it didn't work because one of the prongs got caught on Sanders' clothing, Labbe said.

Sanders then tried to flee, according to Labbe. He said officers got into a physical confrontation with Sanders, then arrested him. Two officers were treated at a hospital for minor injuries from the altercation.

Sanders was treated for minor injuries at the scene and then booked into the Weber County Jail for investigation of:

Assaulting police (2)
Resisting arrest
Possession of a stolen firearm
Possession of firearm by restricted person
Avoiding apprehension
Possession of methamphetamine
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Child endangerment

A pregnant woman was driving the car, and there were children inside between the ages of 2 and 5, according to Labbe. The investigation is ongoing.
