This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Do you know how much Mexico has enriched our food palate? The introduction of the tomato, chili peppers, avocados, vanilla, cinnamon and sweet potatoes are because of our neighbor to the south. And, another important one is chocolate. Steve Ballard, owner and operator of Sonora Grill in Ogden, has done extensive research on food origins and has made numerous trips to Mexico to learn even more. These have all contributed to his success as a restauranteur.

Despite opening in March 2008, just as the economy turned, Steve says Sonora Grill is doing well.... One of his secrets to success is the authentic Mexican food he's serving.... He's gone the distance to make sure it's exactly right, bringing in Mexican products daily that include four types of Mexocan cheese, chili peppers and moritas (more-ee-tuh), which gives his salsa the beautiful smoky flavor.

Sonora Grill makes small fresh batches from scratch.... Throughout the day as they notice something is low, so that the food is more fresh ... And Steve and his staff are committed to customer care. In fact, the steps he gives to ensure guest satisfaction are first, get to know the guest. Second, inform them. Third, educate them, fourth build the relationship. They strive to let you know you're the most important person in the room.

Authenticity is an important aspect of Sonora Grill for Steve. When he travels to Mexico, he tries all types of food, from taco stands on the corners, to people's homes to nice restaurants, with the idea that he can use the experience to continue his commitment to authentic recipes... He believes strongly that the value of the food you're making must match the expectation.

If you ask Steve, he'd tell you he was born to be a restauranteur.... The business is the exact fit for him.... He loves food and has a passion for it since he was a kid.... Hospitality is something he's passionate about well. Plus, he's a lifelong entrepreneur... So, when he could bring it all together by opening Sonora Grill, he knew it was a perfect fit.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
