Takanashi wins 3rd straight ski jump competition

HINTERZARTEN, Germany (AP) - Defending champion Sara Takanashi of Japan won her third straight women's ski jump World Cup competition of the season on Sunday to extend her overall lead in the buildup to the Sochi Winter Olympics.

Takanashi mastered windy conditions to collect a winning total of 239.9 points with jumps of 96 and 98.5 meters. Irina Avvakumova of Russia had jumps of 96.5 and 97.5 meters for 227.9 points. Carina Vogt of Germany jumped 95 and 96.5 for 224.7 to finish third.

Daniela Iraschko-Stolz of Austria finished fifth to drop 95 points behind Takanashi overall.

Takanashi has swept all three competitions this season.
