SEVIER COUNTY — Another animal was poached in October, Division of Wildlife Resources says.
A bull elk was found dead and abandoned Oct. 28 east of Richfield in the Saul’s Meadow area. DWR officials responded to the report, finding the elk carcass headless.
No elk hunts were authorized in the area at the time. Officials say the animal was killed illegally. The elk, DWR officers believe, was killed and had its antlers removed because of the animal’s size.
Anyone with information is asked to call DWR officers via the poaching hotline at 1-800-662-3337. Rewards are available to individuals with information that leads to a successful prosecution, DWR said.
