AMSTERDAM (AP) - Prosecutors at the U.N. Yugoslav Tribunal have provisionally rested their case against Ratko Mladic, the former top Bosnian Serb general accused of 11 counts of war crimes _ including genocide _ for allegedly directing atrocities against civilians during the 1992-1995 Bosnian War.
Mladic denies wrongdoing.
Prosecutor Dermot Groome did not give any summation. He said Thursday he awaits rulings on several admissibility questions before formally closing the case. In all, 164 witnesses have testified for the prosecution since the trial began in May 2012. Mladic was arrested in 2011 after a decade at large.
Presiding Judge Alphons Orie said hearings on Mladic's request for early acquittal will take place at the Hague, Netherlands-based, court near the end of February. The court must rule on that before Mladic begins his defense.
