SALT LAKE CITY — Police named a person of interest Thursday in the hit-and-run death of a 73-year-old man.
Deryk Robeldo, a 19-year-old man who is described as 6-foot 1-inch man, was named by Salt Lake City Police Department as a person of interest in the hit-and-run that led to the death of Genaro Zaragosa-Valencia. Police believe Robeldo was driving the vehicle, Salt Lake City Police Department spokeswoman Robin Heidn said.
Police also said the vehicle involved was a silver BMW 330CI coupe, license plate number Y153TZ.
Zaragosa was struck by a speeding car Monday while he was crossing a dark street on his way home from a 7-Eleven store at 1690 S. 900 West. The car carried Zaragosa 75 feet after impact, critically injuring the man before the car drove off.
Tuesday, Zaragosa died after his family took him off of life support.
