Marc Giauque and Sandra Yi reportingSalt Lake police are investigating the discovery of a body this morning in an alley near 900 South and 300 West.
Police say there are signs of trauma on the body, but they won't say what those injuries are.
Someone walking down a paved alleyway behind the Trails Men's Club in Salt Lake City saw the body this morning.
Angela Mordecai-Smith says the man who found it knocked on her door. He'd spotted her husband's police car parked on the street. "He said, 'Well, there's a dead body in between, you know, in the alley between your house and the bar back there,' and I was like, 'What?'" she said.
Mordecai-Smith then called police.

Officers quickly put up police tape around the business and the alleyway.
Investigators carried out a cardboard box from the area where the body was found, but it's unclear if that is evidence.
There are still a lot of unanswered questions.
Police have not revealed the man's age, or how long his body may have been there.
We don't know whether the trauma happened in the alleyway or if the body was moved there. Detective Bob Eldard, of the Salt Lake City Police Department, said, "The homicide detectives will come down. They'll look for evidence they can find. The medical examiner's office will come down, take a look, look for identification on the body at that point."

Police say they have identified the body and are notifying family members.
They're not releasing anything else at this time.
Mordecai-Smith says she did hear some yelling last night but says that's common in this neighborhood. People who work in the area say they didn't notice anything unusual this morning.
They say there are a lot of people who walk through the alleyway during the day.
Police are talking with managers at Trails to see whether there is any surveillance video that can help with the investigation.
