IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - Fairleigh Dickinson made some noise back home in New Jersey by knocking off instate rivals Rutgers and Seton Hall.
But a fourth road game in eight days _ and a much sterner test in No. 23 Iowa _ proved to be too much for the weary Knights.
Gabe Olaseni tied a career high with 14 points and had 10 rebounds as Iowa blew past Fairleigh Dickinson 92-59 on Monday night for its 10th win.
Melsahn Basabe had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Hawkeyes (10-1), who broke the game open with an early 19-0 run and led by at least 20 points for the entire second half.
Iowa outrebounded the Knights 54-32, including 30-13 in the first half, and cracked the 90-point plateau for the fourth time this season.
Mathias Seilund led Fairleigh Dickinson (3-9) with 19 points. The Knights were 21 of 65 from the field (32.3 percent) _ and Sidney Sanders Jr. needed 20 shots to reach 16 points.
"We didn't have too much in the tank, and we went against a mighty foe and just didn't have enough," FDU coach Greg Herenda said. "They outclassed us. But our kids fought until the very end."
Though FDU defeated the Scarlet Knight and Pirates in consecutive road games this season, the Knights have also lost to the likes of Metro State and Norfolk State.
Top-ranked Arizona beat the Knights 100-50 last month, and it didn't take long for Iowa to let FDU know it was in for a long night.
The Knights scored the first six points, but once the Hawkeyes got rolling they had no answer. Iowa reeled off 19 straight points _ and scored on 11 straight possessions at one point in the first half _ to take a comfortable double-digit lead.
Jarrod Uthoff had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Iowa, which later went on a 13-2 run for a 40-18 lead. The Hawkeyes committed just eight turnovers against 19 assists.
"All of these experiences just make us better. Playing in these environments and playing against these teams that have size and skill and are coached so well ... when we get to our league we'll be able to see the basket, get a rebound and do some of the things that you kind of take for granted," Herenda said.
About the only thing that didn't go smoothly for the Hawkeyes was that star Devyn Marble took 22 minutes to get his first basket _ on Devyn Marble bobblehead night.
Fairleigh Dickinson can now shift its focus to games against Columbia and Hofstra before starting Northeast Conference play with Mount St. Mary's on Jan. 9.
"These games are really important to us. The Arizona game made us better to beat Seton Hall and Rutgers, and this Iowa game is going to help us beat somebody in our league," Herenda said.
