EDUCATION _ Bachelor's degree in economics from Brown University, 1967; doctorate in economics from Yale University, 1971.

FAMILY _ Husband, George A. Akerlof, Nobel laureate in economics (2001) and Berkeley professor; a son, Robert Akerlof.
