WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) - New Zealand's defense force says a New Zealand soldier was wounded during an insider attack by an Afghan soldier on the outskirts of Kabul.

The incident ended when the Afghan soldier was killed. No coalition soldiers died.

In a statement Sunday, the defense force said the New Zealander was wounded in the foot after an Afghan soldier opened fire Saturday on a group of coalition soldiers who were leaving a meeting at an Afghan National Army building.

The defense force said an Australian soldier in the group also received a minor wound, while a second Australian soldier returned fire.

Kabul's Defense Ministry confirmed an Afghan soldier was killed during the incident.

Such insider attacks by Afghan troops, or insurgents in their uniforms, have left 15 foreign soldiers dead this year.
