In record setting fashion, Utah won the 2013 Utah-Arizona Shootout by winning all three segments of the competition and posting the largest margin of victory in the history of the matches, 49 ½ to 22 ½ at Sand Hollow Golf Course.
Utah completed the sweep of all three categories by winning the individual matches 22-14 Tuesday morning. Utah won the Four-Ball and Foursome segments Monday.
Former State Am champions Zac Blair and Jeff Evans won all three of their individual match points, as did Annette Gaiotti. Steve Poulson, Jon Wright, and David Jennings each missed claiming a sweep by just ½ point, winning their matches 2 ½ to ½.
"Our team played very well, and we are proud of them," said UGA Executive Director Bill Walker. "After such a good start we knew we had a chance to set the Shootout scoring record and they played the second day with that goal in mind.
Arizona held the previous record when it trounced Utah 48-24 at Page National Golf Course.
The win for Utah increased its lead in the series to 12-10-1. Last year the two teams tied for the first time at the Karsten Course in Tempe.
