(KSL News) Sen. Bob Bennett made his way home to Utah to address the State Legislature this morning.

The senator spoke of his work in Washington, D.C., to bring a bi-partisan solution to the U.S. health care crisis. He said he and Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden of Oregon have each brought six members of their parties to support the bill.

"What our hope is that the next president, whomever he or she may be, when addressing this issue will say, 'Well, instead of starting out from scratch, here we have in the United States Senate a bi-partisan group that has laid a lot of the original groundwork of this ... Let's start with the Wyden-Bennett bill as a beginning point for our discussion'" Bennett said.

Bennett applauded the state for working to solve the issue locally, but stressed the federal government can't expect the state to fix a problem it didn't create.
