SALT LAKE CITY — Police are looking for two men who broke into a Salt Lake City apartment with guns early Thursday morning.

Lt. Dave Cracroft from the Salt Lake Unified Police department said around 4 a.m., a couple was awakened when two armed men burst into their room demanding drugs and money.

The couple told the men they didn't have any so the suspects ripped through some drawers with the couple still in the room and took off with a purse and two cell phones. As soon as the two men left, the couple ran across the street to a 7-Eleven to call for help.

The men were both described as Hispanic, in their mid-20s and both about 5 feet 5 inches tall. One wore a red bandana over his face and a red Utes sweatshirt. The other a white bandana over his face and a black sweatshirt, Cracroft said.

The Salt Lake City couple said they were very shaken up by the instance, especially since their three children ages four, five, and six were also in the house at the time of the incident.

The police are searching right now around 1720 West and 1300 North in Salt Lake City. Detectives will also comb the crime scene again when it gets light to talk with the homeowners and see if any evidence was left behind that can help them identify these two men.

If you have any information, please contact the Salt Lake Unified Police department.
