NEW YORK, May 18, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Meredith Vieira, the outgoing moderator of ABC's daytime talkfest "The View," is taking a summer break before starting on NBC's "Today."
Vieira's last day on the Peacock Network has been set for June 9, the New York Post reported Thursday.
On her final day, Barbara Walters, Star Jones, Joy Behar and Elizabeth Hasselbeck will stage an on-air roast of their departing colleague, the network said in a release.
"I thought 'Celebrity Roast' was another cooking segment," Vieira said in the statement. "Little did I know that I was the one about to be fried."
Vieira has been tapped to take Katie Couric's place on "Today" in the fall when Couric leaves to assume the anchor chair for "The CBS Evening News."
