Sam Penrod ReportingAn Orem family is getting an up close look at nature right now, right through their front door. Norma Vineyard loves to look through the glass of her front door these days because she has a view of four baby birds.
Norma Vineyard: "I noticed there was a nest, a little nest and I was so excited. I got closer and I looked at it, and there were five tiny green eggs."
For the last month, she has been watching the nest, several times a day. Last week, four of the five eggs finally hatched. Since the nest appeared in the wreath on the door, there are suddenly new rules of the house.
Norma Vineyard: "I asked my children not to go in my front door, that belongs to the mama bird right now. The one that is suffering right now is my cat, because I have to keep her in the garage so she doesn't hurt the babies."
The mama bird keeps a close eye on her nest. Norma says the babies almost always have their little beaks open, hoping for food.
Now she is hoping for the moment when the birds will fly away.
Norma Vineyard: "I will treasure this wreath the rest of my life."
Norma says he doesn't know why the bird picked her front door for the nest, especially since her yard is full of trees.
