Dina Freedman ReportingSometimes it's hard to understand what type of plants might do best for the soil around your home. That's where the Garden Fair in West Jordan can help you.
We do live in a desert climate, so water conservation is always important. But if you want to save water, can you still have a lush and bright garden? Sure you can! And that's the message that the Jordan Valley Water Conservation District is trying to get out there, that you can have a great garden but you don't need to water it all the time.
Actually, some of their gardens show that you don't need additional water, you can just use what Mother Nature Provides. They've got a whole bunch of Display Gardens so you can see real examples of different plants and how they thrive in different landscapes.
Clifton Smith, Garden Manager: "Basically to show that you can have a landscape, whether it be traditional or otherwise, and save water. And also to show what a different types of landscapes and different degrees of water, what savings you can get from planting different types of landscape areas in your yard."
The fair is free. It'll take place in West Jordan at 8125 S and 1300 West, there will be fun stuff for the kids and you can talk to experts about what would best for your lawn and garden.
