ST. GEORGE — A St. George man was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday for his role in the kidnapping and death of another man on Halloween in 2010.

Paul Ashton, 34, admitted in May that he aided and abetted in the abduction of 43-year-old Bradley Eitner on Oct. 31, 2010. Ashton also admitted to discharging a firearm during the kidnapping.

Ashton banged Eitner's head against a door frame and the tailgate of a truck before striking him with a rock and driving him to Arizona, where an accomplice shot Eitner and pushed him off an embankment, according to court documents. Eitner’s body was found March 11, 2011. An autopsy determined he died from blunt force head trauma and a single gunshot wound to the head.

U.S. District Judge Ted Stewart also sentenced Ashton to 10 years for the firearms charge to be served consecutively with the life term.
