(KSL News) -- The YWCA has big plans for the future, but they need the help of the community.
Today the organization unveiled a campaign to raise more than 11 million dollars to fund expansion plans and program developement in the coming years.
The first phase of the YWCA's plan includes the building of a new residence, housing a new crisis shelter and housing for women and children left homeless due to family violence.
Anne Burkholder, Chief Executive Officer: "Currently, on any given night, there may be 250 women, teens and children sleeping at the YWCA. We estimated that the new shelter and residence will increase our capacity by 50 percent."
The new capital campaign is part of the YWCA's centennial celebration.
