NORTH SALT LAKE — A man driving a stolen vehicle let police on a high-speed chase Sunday, one that ended when he crashed the vehicle into cars at a car dealership Sunday morning.
Utah Highway Patrol officers noticed a Hyundai traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour southbound on I-15 Sunday morning and attempted to stop the vehicle. Instead, the driver fled, according to Sgt. Mitch Gwilliam with North Salt Lake Police Department.
The driver exited the freeway at 500 West in Bountiful and continued to drive south on Highway 89 at rates near 100 miles per hour, Gwilliam said.
North Salt Lake officers noticed the vehicle run a red light at 3200 South, Gwilliam said. At about 8 a.m., the driver tried to turn onto 800 West and lost control of the vehicle, crashing into two parked cars at a dealership.
The driver then fled on foot and officers deployed a Taser in order to bring him into custody, Gwilliam said. He was not injured in the crash.
Officers were able to determine that the vehicle had been stolen in Logan Saturday night.
Trevor Reed, 22, from West Valley City, was booked for investigation of multiple charges.
Officers said that drugs or alcohol did not appear to play a part in the incident. Two vehicles were totaled in the incident.
