This is Marty Carpenter in for Lane Beattie of the Salt Lake Chamber with your Utah Business Report.

America's immigration system is broken and fails to meet the needs of Utah businesses. Improvements are long overdue and essential to continued economic growth for our state.

The Salt Lake Chamber recently joined more than 20 business organizations representing thousands of businesses of all sizes and all sectors of the economy in support of comprehensive immigration reform.

We applaud the efforts of the bipartisan Gang of Eight for their initiative, as well as Utah's own Senator Orrin Hatch, for his leadership on this issue.

Senator Hatch has championed the workforce need for highly skilled employees. His amendment to improve the legislation by increase H-1B visas, while providing more resources for science, technology, engineering, math and computer science education in the United States, will prepare Utah students to fill the jobs of tomorrow.
