COLOMBIA — As part of a summer campaign initiative, Coca-Cola has created a new bottle made entirely of ice as the latest way to keep their product cool.
Coca-Cola teams created the "ice bottles" by freezing micro-filtered water into silicone molds at -25 degrees Celcius, according to the Coca-Cola website. The molds are then filled with Coke and shipped to hot Colombia beaches. The bottles maintained the same unique contoured shape of the glass bottles and also sport the same Spencerian script lettering to mark the Coca-Cola brand.
The ice bottles have not only appealed to environmental groups, but also to South American residents and tourists. The beachside resort servers have sold 265 frozen bottles an hour on average since the ice bottle was introduced. The advertising world has also shown admiration for Coca-Cola's ingenuity by awarding the ice bottle with the Golden Sol Award at the Sol awards in Bilbao, Spain.
Coca-Cola has also doubled their advertising by wrapping the ice bottle with a red rubber Coke band that keeps people's fingers from freezing, and also serves as a keepsake bracelet.
The unique Coca-Cola packaging is currently only available in Colombia.
