TAYLORSVILLE — Police say a man was robbed while trying to close a rare coins sale at a fast-food restaurant.
The man was selling rare coins online and thought he had found a potential buyer named "Daniel," according to Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal. They arranged to meet at McDonald's, 5571 S. Redwood Road, at 9 a.m. June 23.
At the restaurant, "Daniel" took the coins to a second man waiting in a vehicle, then told the seller that they didn't have enough money and needed to go to the bank.
The coin owner said he would hold on to the coins until they returned, but the men began to drive away, Hoyal said.
The owner reached into the vehicle to try to grab the coins, but one of the men punched him several times as the car sped away, causing the man to fall to the ground, Hoyal said. The man received minor injuries.
The two men were last seen driving away in a silver Chrysler 300. Anyone with information can call police at 801-743-5950.
