NEW YORK, May 10, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Andy Warhol's "Pepper Pot," a pop art depiction of a Campbell's soup can, has sold at a New York auction for $11.8 million.

The 1962 work titled "Small Torn Campbell's Soup Can (Pepper Pot)" was among 91 pieces on the block at Christie's auction house Tuesday night, The New York Post reported Wednesday.

The work had been expected to go for between $10 million and $15 million.

An untitled abstract by Willem de Kooning sold for $10.1 million and was among 83 sales that garnered an estimated $143.2 million for Christie's, the Post said.

Rival auction house Sotheby's was conducting its contemporary auction Wednesday night. Among its prize items were a $20 million piece by Roy Lichtenstein, a Warhol illustration of a dollar and another de Kooning estimated to be worth $8.5 million.
