SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Utah Film Commission wants to lure more big-budget productions to the state by eliminating a $500,000-per-project cap on film incentives.
Commission director Marshall Moore told lawmakers Wednesday that a September trip to Los Angeles showed there's interest in filming in Utah, but the cap is limiting the state to smaller-budget productions.
The commission also is looking for a boost in film-incentive funding. The commission was funded $4 million for the current fiscal year, but will ask for $6 million in the 2008-2009 budget. The increase would include a $1.5 million appropriation for "High School Musical 3."
