COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — An elderly woman out for a walk with her husband is now in very serious condition following an auto-pedestrian accident in Cottonwood Heights Tuesday.

The 75-year-old woman was walking with her husband at about noon on Tuesday in the area of 3646 E. Supernal Way (8200 South), according to Sgt. Gary Young with Cottonwood Heights Police Department.

A male driver backing out of his driveway hit the woman, who then fell over. She sustained "very serious or critical" injuries to the head in the fall, according to Young.

The woman's husband performed CPR on his wife until paramedics arrived. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment, Young said.

Police were unable to speculate on the woman's exact condition early Tuesday afternoon.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
