I have confirmed Bronco Mendenhall did indeed present his "play-in" idea in informal settings at the AFCA convention in Anaheim earlier this week.
Whether the proposal would ultimately be "two highest ranked non-BCS teams" or "two highest-ranked non-BCS conference champions" meeting for an automatic BCS berth, the philosophy behind the idea remains the same: to provide a realistic, annual opportunity for non-BCS teams to have access to the same opportunities already afforded BCS league members.
