OGDEN — The Alta Hawks defeated the American Fork Cavemen 38-31 Friday afternoon to advance to the 5A Championship.

It was a back and forth low-scoring battle with the score tied at 31 going into the fourth quarter. Alta was able to outscore the Cavemen by seven to push them over the top and into Saturday's final.

American Fork was led by their twin towers Ryan Andrus and Tyler Rawson. Andrus scored a game high 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds while Rawson added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Other than Andrus and Rawson, American Fork struggled to score. The Cavemen shot 10% from the field in the second half.

Alta had much more of a balanced attack with eight players scoring, but Trevor Hill led the way with 11 points and eight rebounds.

Alta will face the winner of Brighton and Lone Peak Saturday for the class 5A basketball championship.
