SALT LAKE CITY — A broken water hydrant caused heavy flooding on 2100 South Saturday afternoon.
Just before noon, the Salt Lake City Fire Department responded in freezing temperatures to the flooding at 2100 South and 2000 East.
Emergency responders found the hydrant knocked over. They said someone driving in the poor weather likely hit it and left the scene.
Water damage was reported at three houses, one with severe damage and the others with minor damage.
"We did lose some things but I think most of it is salvageable," said Rambrasad Boppana, whose home was one of the three damaged.
The cost estimate due to the water damage was unknown Saturday night.
