(KSL News) -- Amazon.com is counting pennies all the way to the bank. The online company is cashing pennies and converting them into Amazon gift certificates.
The new service is called Coinstar. Customers will get the full value of their change as long as they spend it at Amazon. Otherwise, Coinstar charges an 8.9 percent commission to convert coins into US bills.
Amazon gift certificates will be available on 35-hundred machines, and five thousand by 2006.
