(KSL News) -- Do you know the three C's? - Conserve, conserve, conserve.

That's what the Department of Energy is urging Americans to do as the winter months head our way.

With gas prices at record highs, heating and fuel bills are expected to rise.

Energy Secretary Sam Bodman announced a program to encourage Americans to cut back energy use and ease the supply crunch.

The department will create radio and T-V public service announcements to remind Americans to conserve and give tips on how to cut back on energy and save money.

Samuel Bodman, Energy Secretary: "There are substantial savings that can be made, for example in driving an automobile when one reduces the speed that one is driving from 65 to 55, you can save up to 10 percent on gasoline mileage."
