(KSL News) Lost in rental cars, stolen in purses, and left in hotels; all are common ways to lose track of an iPod. But now there is a new way to be reunited with your pricey piece of electronic equipment.

There is new software that can be installed on an iPod, and when someone other than the device owner tries plugging it into a hard drive, a message pops up.

"We're going to transmit a signal back to our server -- the name of the computer, the name of the person logged in, and the ip address -- and you can geo-locate it on a map," explained Dave Schuman, of iHound Software.

The software is free. To download it for your iPod, click the related link.
