CINCINNATI (AP) -- Macy's Inc. says it will close nine underperforming stores, including the Family Center store at Riverdale, Utah.
Three stores are being closed in Ohio, along with one in Indianapolis; one in Lake Charles, La., another in Oklahoma City; and one each in Dallas and Houston.
Macy's chairman and CEO Terry Lundgren said Friday that the decision to close stores is difficult but done in locations with declining sales and insufficient growth opportunities.
Macy's operates more than 850 department stores in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico under the names Macy's and Bloomingdale's.
