SALT LAKE CITY — Don't be alarmed, but there is another sport being played. No, not soccer, a sport that most Americans claim to understand. Yep, hockey is back. The NHL to be more precise.

#poll

After the second lockout in less than 10 years, the NHL has come roaring back on to the mainstream. Well, maybe not roaring, but gracefully sliding towards mainstream, waiting for the perfect time to strike.

The first games of the season were played last Saturday with the L.A. Kings raising their banner to the rafters. Other games happened as well. From the mightiest Capital to the lowly Coyote, hockey has been restored, so now everyone can watch a game or two in May when the playoffs start and there isn't much else to watch.

But in the the meantime, let me be the first to say, "Hey, NHL ... nice sweater."

Double Standard:

No, this isn't about how there should be car commercials with attractive guys it is about the different treatment star quarterbacks get in the NFL, which is what we really care about.

In the AFC Championship game, the Ravens beat the Patriots to earn a trip to the Sup Harbowl, or whatever the kids are calling it these days.

The Patriots were driving downfield and Tom Brady had to scramble out of the pocket, looking to get into the end zone. He sees Ed Reed coming and wisely slides to live to fight another day. Then the drama happens.

Brady gets down on the ground but puts his cleat up in the air and it makes contact with Reed as he is coming to a stop. It might not have seemed overly deliberate, but if it was Reed doing it to Brady, there is a very good chance it would have been called.

Imagine the firestorm if Ndamukong Suh had done this. Oh, it did, and he was fined $30,000.

But, what will happen to Brady? So far, nothing and probably nothing.

For all of the efforts that the NFL is going through to make the NFL safe and then to let their star do something like this seems a little fishy.

And, I'm sorry a little bit for the video and by that the commentary. Couldn't find another version, but at least the guy is entertaining. Especially shouting out Ute product Paul Kruger.

Twitter burn:

The Nets beat up on the Knicks on Monday in Madison Square Garden to show that there was a very real battle between the teams in New York. The Nets won by 3 and Kris Humphries had a double-double and was ready to talk some trash about their win in this rivalry game.

Like all players today he took to Twitter and talked about how quiet the Garden was on the way out.

Then JR Smith swung back and did what he does best, talked trash.

Quoting Humphries tweet he added, "Wasnt quiet when Kanye tore it down last month!"

Now, if anyone didn't get that here is the recap. Humphries was married to Kim Kardashian for 13 minutes then left him and is now with Kanye West.

That is the classic won the battle lost the war.
