It has been a very tough start to the conference season for Utah. Losing close games on the Arizona swing and coming very close to beating UCLA gave us all hope. The games against USC and Washington State have killed any possible momentum the team may have.

Getting the news today that Aaron Dotson will be out for a month with his left knee issues doesn't help either.

It is time to generate some new momentum for Utah and it just so happens that it is an easy game to get up for. The Huskies are tied atop the Pac-12 conference standings at 4-0 having won their first three games on the road.

Is it likely that the Utes win in Alaska Airlines Arena?

How can they do it?

  • Relax - There is absolutely no pressure, in fact there couldn't be less pressure. Just go out there and play. The Utes need to get back to what they were doing against Arizona and UCLA. Play great defense and run the offense. Not one person in the country expects you to win this game so go out there and be world beaters!
  • Cedric Martin - Martin will most likely get the opportunity to defend the Huskies best player in C.J. Wilcox. Wilcox is a Pleasant Grove product that is putting up great numbers this year that will get him into the NBA. He is averaging 19.4 points shooting 47% from the field including 41% from 3. Martin will have to make his night difficult and bring that shooting percentage down. If Martin can keep Wilcox in check, the chances of the Utes being in this game obviously go up.
  • Play Offense - During the UTEcast, former Ute great Josh Grant broke down for us what it means to play offense. Every team obviously has an offense and wants to run their offense but it is time for the Utes to make adjustments and take what the defense is giving you. It sounds easy enough. Play offense, find holes in the defense and take shots to make them.

This is a difficult game on paper to go and win which should be all the more reason to go in and get that elusive first win in conference.

In the past Washington has had a ton of talent but has played undisciplined.

That is your opportunity.

If Albany, Colorado State, and Nevada can beat them, it is possible for the Utes.
