(KSL News) There have been two fatal auto-pedestrian accidents tonight.

The first one happened at 1850 West on North Temple. Police say a young lady had just purchased some food and was crossing the street when an SUV hit her.

There's quite a stretch along there between traffic lights and the speed limit is 50 miles per hour.

Lt. Lamar Ewell, with the Salt Lake City Police Dept., said, "There are no street lights to light the street up so you can be seen, and if you happen to be wearing dark clothing, you cannot be seen, especially this time of night."

Investigators are still trying to determine just what happened. Police haven't released the victim's name yet.

A 74-year-old woman was hit and killed tonight in the area of 12th North and Main Street in Bountiful. Investigators aren't sure just what happened but say the street is fairly busy, that there is no crosswalk, and that the area is poorly lit.

They have not released this victim's name yet.
