Gene Kennedy reporting A West Jordan neighborhood was evacuated Thursday morning as SWAT teams surround a home where a domestic dispute erupted.
Jennifer Williams, Neighbor: "It's pretty scary when you've got them storming all around you, pretty scary."
The incident came to a tragic end when the man involved took his own life.
The evacuated neighbors have now been allowed back into their homes.
The incident apparently started with a domestic dispute between a man and his wife around 9am Thursday.
The woman got out of the house and called police, telling them that her husband had a gun and was threatening to commit suicide.
The SWAT team came down to the home and surrounded it around 10:30am. They were not able to make contact with the man. Around 11am, they forced their way into the home and found the man dead in a bedroom. Police say he used a handgun to kill himself.
Meanwhile, eight to ten neighbors were evacuated. Some found themselves jumping over fences to get out of the area. Many we spoke to told us that they were puzzled by this whole ordeal.
Jeff Mackay, Neighbor: "They told us to leave. We suspect it is some sort of domestic dispute, we have no idea. They're good neighbors, quiet. I have no idea."
Jennifer Williams, Neighbor: "I know it's neighbors a few doors down, with marital issues. I don't know what's escalated from there, but obviously something big."
