Three years ago a small group of downtown Salt Lake restaurateurs got together with Salt Lake’s Downtown Alliance to brainstorm about how to encourage folks to come downtown and enjoy this city’s vast array of urban restaurants. The result was a very popular program called the Downtown Dine O’Round.

Well now we’re on the eve of the Third Annual Downtown Dine O’Round, which kicks off tomorrow night at 40 different downtown restaurants. From tomorrow through September 30th, restaurants participating in the Downtown Dine O’Round will offer three course meals for either $15 or $25 per person, depending on the restaurant you choose.

For example, a mere 15 bucks will get you a three course lunch or dinner at fine downtown restaurants like Xiao Li, Sage’s Café, LemonGrass, Squatters, and Café Pierpont. For a step up in luxurious dining, high-end establishments like The New Yorker, Takashi, Metropolitan, Martine, and the Garden Café are offering three courses for only 25 bucks.

Well, aside from the obvious lure of being able to eat in great Salt Lake restaurants for the next two weeks on the cheap, this year there’s an added incentive to join in the fun of the Downtown Dine O’Round as some of the participating restaurants will donate a portion of the proceeds to Hurricane Katrina relief organizations.

Again, the Downtown Dine O’Round takes place from tomorrow through the 30th. For information on which restaurants are involved in the Downtown Dine O’Round, log onto www.downtownslc.org. I hope to see you downtown, dining around!
