SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A $1 billion renovation of Salt Lake City's downtown malls will include a mechanized roof, eight restaurants, an 18-foot waterfall and a glass skywalk over Main Street.

Plans for the City Creek Center were shared with the Salt Lake City Planning Commission by developers yesterday. The commission could approve the plans in January.

Construction of the new multi-use center, which includes residential and office space in addition to commercial buildings is expected to be complete in 2011. Two downtown malls are being razed to make way for City Creek.

Developers say buildings will be constructed of brick, limestone, granite and precast stone.
