PARK CITY — A Salt Lake City man died early Sunday when his vehicle rolled in Park City.
Paul A. Velo, 38, died around 1:45 a.m., soon after his vehicle left the roadway while the man was traveling north on state Route 224, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Ted Tingey said. Velo was nearing Silver Springs Drive when he apparently failed to negotiate a curve in the road.
The car left the road and Tingey said Velo went "some distance" before trying to get his Volkswagen Passat back on the roadway by driving up an embankment. The car rolled and Velo, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected.
He died at the scene.
"We do suspect impairment of drugs and or alcohol as being a contributing factor along with speed in this crash," Tingey said.
