SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Two Utah cities are ranked among the Top 10 list of the nations "most secure places to live," according to an annual survey.

The rankings are compiled by the Farmers Insurance Group and consider crime rates, environmental hazards, terrorism threats, unemployment, job growth and extreme weather conditions.

Logan was ranked fifth most secure among small towns -- up from seventh last year -- and St. George dropped from first-place to eighth place. Small towns are defined as communities with a population of less than 150,000.

Corvallis, Ore. was first in 2007.

Database expert Bert Sperling, who compiles the ranking data, says the country is discovering Utah as an affordable, safe place to live.
