LOGAN — This season, the Idaho Vandals didn't perform the best.
With a 1-10 overall record on the season, Idaho is looking to end its season by beating out the top team in the WAC who clinched a share of the title on Saturday — Utah State. It's going to be quite a feat for the Vandals to accomplish, as they will travel to Logan to try and dethrone the 9-2 Aggies.
Head coach Jason Gesser and the Vandals had a tough loss to Texas-San Antonio last week, but will still attempt to upset the Aggies, who had an overtime victory of their own against then-No. 20 Louisiana Tech.
Utah State will host Idaho Saturday, Nov. 24, with kickoff set at 1 p.m. MT.
Here's what coach Gesser had to say about Saturday's game against Utah State:
On Utah State:
“The upcoming opponent is very, very good. They had a great game down at Louisiana Tech. They pulled out a big overtime victory against them. They put up 48 points. They have a very prolific offense. Their quarterback is a stud, in my opinion. We have to be prepared for him. Their defense is just as stout. They do a great job there on both sides of the ball and have a real good program going.”
On Utah State's defense:
“They're giving up only about 14 points a game. They held BYU to six points. Their only losses on the year were to Wisconsin and BYU and the BYU game was a 6-3 game that they should've won. They had some big wins this year. They're a great program. Coach Anderson has done a great job of doing the things that he wants to instill in the program down there and getting those guys a lot of confidence and believing in what they're doing. The defense confuses you a bunch. They're a 3-4 defense or a 3-5 defense, however you want to classify it. They do a lot of different blitzes.”
