WEST VALLEY CITY — A civil rights icon's name now graces a road in the city.

West Valley City officials, along with the NAACP Salt Lake Branch, have renamed 3100 South from Decker Lake Drive to Cultural Center Drive in honor of one of the most influential icons of the civil rights movement, Rosa Parks.

Parks famously refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white passenger in Montgomery, Ala.

The road leads to the Utah Cultural Celebration Center, which strives to celebrate the diversity of West Valley City and Utah.
