(KSL News) The man accused of hitting a teen on I-15 and fleeing the scene could also faces charges of obstruction of justice.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that investigators say David Romero hit and killed Chelsea Smith Peaslee then abandoned his car and reported it stolen.

West Valley City police found the car, and the Utah Highway Patrol determined it was the vehicle used in the hit-and-run.

Romero was arrested Tuesday and was released from jail after posting bail. Davis County prosecutors say they could file criminal charges today.
