SARATOGA SPRINGS — A fast-moving fire has sparked southwest of Saratoga Springs near Lake Mountain.

In a very short time the fire has grown to 500 acres. Early reports indicate it was caused by 6 target shooters in the area who initially tried to stop the fire.

Fire crews are on scene and fighting the blaze, which is burning near mile marker 18 on SR 68.

The fire is reportedly also burning near an explosives plant. Workers in the area were able to create afire line around the plant. The fire is roughly 200 yards away.

Also near mile marker 18, Utah County officials are conducting a search and rescue operation for a female deer hunter who fell. Exact details were not yet available.

There is no indication that the fallen woman and the fire acre connected by anything other than proximity. Officials have not commented on whether the fire has interfered with rescue operations.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
