Elijah Mayberry DE Northridge
Mayberry came up big win his team needed it most. He made 14 tackles and two sacks on Friday. The biggest play he made came late in their rivalry game against Layton. He stripped the ball late in the 4th quarter when Layton was trying to run out the clock. His play set up the game winning field goal as the 4th ranked Knights survived a scare. Mark Barnet Judge
Barnet returned an interception 46 yards for a score, grabbed a pass from Kaden Elliss for a 21-yard touchdown reception, and then added an eight-yard rushing score helping the Bulldogs pick up a 35-6 win over Union. Kyle Foy RB Altamont
He didn't match his state record 451 yards in a game last season but what he did Friday was impressive. He led the Longhorns with 273 yards on 38 carries, three touchdowns, and a two-point conversion to give Altamont its first region win James Elkins Granger
Elkins got it done rushing and receiving for the Lancers. He had 15 carries for 141 yards and a touchdown, while also hauling in five receptions for 144 yards and a score. That's 285 yards of total offense helping his team defeat Taylorsville 41-21. Blake Barney QB Dixie
Barney got it done again with his arm and legs. He went 10-for-13 with 255 yards and five touchdowns through the air and he also rushed the ball 12 times for 85 yards and a score in a 47-28 win over Cedar. Most impressive teams of the week
Pleasant Grove
Lone Peak was coming off a stunning upset of Bingham and was back in the rankings for the first time since week 1. With Bingham out of the way it looked like the Knights would cruise to their 4th straight region title. Pleasant Grove seemed to take exception to that and pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the season. They had to overcome a 17-2 halftime deficit to pull it off. Now if they win out the Vikings can claim a region title and No. 1 seed in the playoffs. Mountain Crest
We knew Mountain Crest was a good team but still didn't give them much of a chance to go on the road and knock off their hated rival Logan. They proved all of us wrong. They stunned the Grizzlies avenging losses in their last two meetings and all but clinches a region title. Maple Mountain
For weeks we were asking if Timpanogos was for real. We should start asking that question now about Maple Mountain. The Golden Eagles stunned the 5th ranked Timberwolves on the road to move to 7-1 on the year. Their only loss is to Timpview. No shame in that. The win puts Maple Mountain in the drivers seat to claim the No. 2 seed in the region and a home playoff game. Juan Diego
A road game against a very good Wasatch team was supposed to be the biggest test of the year so far for Juan Diego. Give the Soaring Eagle an A. After giving up a touchdown in the first quarter they scored 49 unanswered points crushing the Wasps for a big road win that all but wraps up another region title. East
The Leopards may be the best team in the state regardless of classification and they left no doubt Friday that they are the best team in Region 6. They went on the road and after a scoreless 1st quarter pounded the Braves scoring 34 combined points in the 2nd and 3rd quarter. They forced Bountiful into four turnovers and have now outscored region opponents 188-30. Highland is the only team that stands in their way of an outright region title.
