Watching the DT towers fall.

I’m putting together a story about the Deseret Towers at BYU meeting their final fate. There have been plans for some time now to tear these buildings down. But today the wrecking ball gets to start doing its thing.

This is always a fun story to cover because it really is fun to watch controlled destruction. It’s also been fun talking with the people that come by to say good bye to their old dorm rooms.

Thousands of freshmen had their first collegiate experience in these towers. But it’s time to make way for the more demanding student that doesn’t want a tiny shared dorm room with only a few electrical outlets. At least that’s one of the reasons why I was told the buildings are coming down.

I never lived in these towers, but if you did feel free to write about some of your fond experiences below.
