(KSL News) -- A major smash-up in Parley's Canyon this evening. Two semi- trucks collided, with one plowing right into the back-end of the other.
The accident happened on Interstate 80 near the Lamb's Canyon exit.
This dump truck was full of garbage and headed down the canyon. Witnesses say it was going about -8 miles an hour.
This red semi was following the slower truck at highway speed and -smashed right into the back of it.
The driver of the Red truck was critically injured and airlifted to a hospital.
No one else was hurt. But, troopers drivers need to pay attention, especially in the canyons.
Sgt. Glen Porter,Utah Highway Patrol: "A reminder to drivers to be careful and be watchful of things that are occurring in front of them and drive accordingly."
The freeway was blocked down to -one lane for several hours while crews cleaned up the mess and removed the semis.
