LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- The challenge worked.

Cache County's population stands at more than 106,000, as of 2006, not 98,000 as first estimated by the Census Bureau.

The county filed a challenge with the Census Bureau and had the support of each community. The higher number means thousands of additional dollars from federal and state programs tied to population.

The town of Paradise, population 881, jumped 26 percent from 2005. Logan remains the largest city in Cache County with more than 47,000 residents, followed by Smithfield, North Logan and Hyrum.
