Movie star and peace activist JANE FONDA has scrapped plans to tour America as an opponent to the war in Iraq because she fears her thoughts won't be taken seriously.
The MOTHER-IN-LAW star was an outspoken critic of the Vietnam War in the 1960s and 1970s and was dubbed Hanoi Jane for her controversial opposition to conflict.
But now she fears she has "too much baggage" to front a new anti-war lecture tour.
She says, "I wanted to do a tour like I did during the Vietnam War, a tour of the country... but I carry too much baggage."
The actress admits she's happy to step aside and let CINDY SHEEHAN, whose son, CASEY, died in Iraq in 2004, become the new face of peace in the US.
She adds, "Cindy Sheehan is better at this than I am."
Last month, the Georgia Senate overwhelmingly rejected a resolution to honour Fonda for her work preventing teen pregnancy and as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations. (KL/WNV/SH)
